Practical ways to involve guests

There exist many ways how to communicate your sustainability actions to your guests as it always depends on the type of guests, your business and conditions. Below you’ll find some practical ways how to involve guests and to encourage them to support your plastic waste reduction strategy.

CREATE AWARENESS AND MOTIVATE GUESTS

USE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION CHANNELS

Include information on your sustainability commitment and plastic waste reduction programme on your website, your app (if existing), in guest areas or in booking documents.

USE VISUAL SIGNS

Provide information on posters in the lift or in the lobby. E.g. signs on the correct sorting of waste next to the plastic waste bins so guests are informed and can support accordingly.

PRODUCE A VIDEO

Show your guests in a short video what you are doing and how they can support. The video can be shown on TV in guest rooms or on television screens in the lobby.

OFFER SUSTAINABILITY TOURS

Inform and show your guests on these tours what are you already doing in terms of plastic reduction or other sustainable activities.

REGULAR SUSTAINABILITY DAYS

Establish regular environmental or sustainability days during which you offer relevant activities guests can join (e.g. upcycling workshops) and learn about your plastic waste programme or other sustainability measures you have implemented.

ORGANISE CLEANING ACTIVITIES

Invite your guests to join your organised beach or forest cleans. Make sure there is equipment available (such as gloves and bin bags) and provide some refreshments as a thank you.
