Evaluation of measurement results
It is recommended to relate the quantity of plastic products to other indicators such as the number of guests or employees in your business. This way you can easily compare the amount of plastic products consumed throughout the year.
Evaluation considering NUMBER OF GUESTS
It is recommended to take your occupancy or the number of customers you have into consideration. Relate the consumption of (single-use) plastic to the number of guests staying in your hotel or booking a tour with you.
This way you can easily compare the amount of plastic products consumed throughout the year with varying guest numbers and see if you are still on track with your plastic reduction programme.
Evaluation considering NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES
Another option is to relate the consumption of (single-use) plastic products to the number of employees working with or for you.
It also helps you to determine whether the amount of plastic products consumed throughout the year has decreased.
EXAMPLE
2019 | Plastic consumption per month | Plastic consumption per month per guest night | |||
Months | No. of guests | Plastic bottles | Plastic cups | Plastic bottles | Plastic cups |
January | 1,400 | 2,900 | 12,900 | 2,07 | 9,2 |
February | 1,700 | 3,200 | 14,700 | 1,9 | 8,6 |
March | 2,000 | 3,700 | 15,300 | 1,9 | 7,7 |
This exemplary table shows how important it is to relate your plastic consumption to the number of guests. By only looking at the numbers it looks like that the amount of plastic products consumed has increased.
But considering the number of guests in the three months you can see that per guest night less plastic cups were used.
